In a “clean-up mode” recently, I discovered this clipping from our local Pacifica Tribune from about 10 years ago when the Pacifica Branch of the AFS used to have an informational booth at the Pacifica Fog Fest, a street fair held in September.
“MADALYN DRAGO, president of the fuchsia society, called to tell me about a cute incident she witnessed at the Fog Fest. While people – watching from the fuchsia society booth, she said she watched a man and a little boy about 5 or 6 years old strolling along the street together. The boy was touching everything, she said, and the father kept pulling him back. When they got to the fuchsia society’s booth, the man turned to the little boy and said,‘We are going to look at the fuchsias, and they are poisonous.’ She said the boy put his hands behind his back and didn’t touch a thing. The fuchsia lover said she hopes the child does not go through life shunning innocent fuchsias because of the ‘little white lie’ ”
